Chinese / Asian Brand Info Thread (On or Over Ear Headphones)

I listen to Topping NX4 DSD + Audio-technica M40X.
I want better headphones, will it be better with ISK MDH9000, Sivga SV006? What headphones to choose if I want strong bass, good mids, clear, but not sharp highs?

Im starting to sound like broken record but... get yourself a pair of N650. :p Fits perfectly with your requirements.

I have no doubts in accuracy of Roderick’s measurements but I can’t hear Takstars bass extension. Similar situation was with my old Sennheiser HD 215 II. I wasn’t able to hear sufficient amount of bass while FR graphs showed opposite. On the contrary some headphones with a bit reduced bass sounds ok. I think it’s not all about bass quantity but also about its quality. And IMO MDH9000 quality is a way better.

Many people don't even measure headphones at 10hz like I do. That is not very relevant frequency. Not even pipe organ can reach 10hz. And if there is a "sound" at 10hz you would need a subwoofer to appreciate it as it it is more felt than heard.

I like to measure frequencies as low as 10hz because I find it interesting which traditional dynamic headphones measure flat that low. Normally it is just orthodynamics that can do it.

Mdh9000 still has plenty going on at the 30-60hz region, which is still sub bass. Like said, compared to mids something like bassy kick drums around 40hz will be more prominent on mdh9000 than on pro82. So pro82's better sub bass extension is relevant only if you listen to some weird electronic music with subsonic soundwaves. I think it is more relevant as a technological achievement.

How are the mids on MDH9000 compared to Pro 82? Takstars have sometimes rather tinny sounding mids which im not a huge fan of, MD9K has supposedly warmer sound?

Bosshifi B8 may be a good option.

About ISK MDH9000: extremely nice sound! Musicality, engaging bass, excellent sound stage for a closed headphone, non-fatiguing sound and neither rough. I can not stop listening to music with this headphone! The Msur N650 is on my radar, will it be an upgrade? I'll wait for the comparisons.

Agreed. For the ridiculous prices some of these go for, the value ratio is off the charts.

I paid $25 for Project 50X, and most recently $16 for the Neewer NW9000.

The 50X only requires the stock LyxPro pads ($9) extra to be ‘the same’ as the ISK (ie $34 total), but the Neewer already has them (ie $16 total).

I dont really like the stock cables. So I always remove the cable locking mechanism, and use upgraded cables.

I will post my comparison here once ive received them. I have a feeling that they are not a match for N650 but ill try to remain objective. :p

I ordered them three days ago from Aliexpress and seller havent shipped them yet and order will get cancelled within 17 hours. Im afraid that this is one of those sellers who are selling stuff that they dont actually have available... Or maybe its just the end of chinese lunar new year holiday.

E: Shipped today.

I can't get them anywhere near that price. Minimum is 55 dollar on AliExpress... and I just bought the CAL.

There is a bass boost switch next to the volume control on the NX4 DSD. Try that first before spending money on another set of headphones (I know that's heresy)

For me, bass on M40X is enough, not even using the bass boost switch. I'm not satisfied with the a little bit boring sound of these headphones and a small soundstage. I want headphones with the same amount of bass and with a more dedicated and musically involving mids with a wider soundstage.

Just a shout out to the OneAudio DJ Studio Wireless. I like them so much with their smoothness, full, warm sound, clear mids and highs and their soundstage which is actually great for a pair of cheap closed back (Bluetooth) cans.

Tomorrow the CAL will arrive...
