Why not keep an eye out for a used one? Plenty turn up here and over at Audiogon. Most sellers accept PayPal, and you'll save a few bucks.

They're probably not allowed to advertise a lower price due to various restrictions; if you email them, they probably quote you the $299 you mentioned.
