Have not use this iron so can't comment much. The last I own was a Goots, made in Japan and was quite good. Well 40w is a bit high but if you have fast hand, it will be fine. On the other hand the extra heat will be useful when you solder thick wire, like a fat speaker cable etc. If you want to DIY and have lots of project in mind, get a soldering station. If you just wanted to try out DIY, this is OK.
Try the Hakko "Dash" 452 instead - 15W with a great sharp, pointy tip. Best basic electronics iron I've seen (I'm no expert, though). You can get some really sharp points for SMD work, too!
