, I wonder if I should buy a flash-based Kenwood Dap (like MG-F500 series) or the old praised ones. Does anyone know if the SQ between these two kinds different or not

You'll have to search for the reviews on the new Kenwoods. I read them and the new flash players were reported to not sound as good as before or as good as Sony or Cowon better offerings. [Review] Kenwood MG-F500 Series, Back to the Basic « Akihabara News

You have to remember that Kenwood is part of JVC now. So it could be reasoned that Victor/JVC might just not let Kenwood best the sound of their offerings. Think of AIWA before and after Sony swallowed them up.
