As the title suggests, I need a pair of cheap, closed, portable, headband headphones. My budget is about 70$. I've had a pair of senn px200's and liked them, it's just that I've heard that they're muddy compared to other cans. Are there any other cans that would work, or should I get another pair of px200's? I mostly listen to rock and metal.

Denon D1001k. You can find them for about $75 on Amazon.

rock and metal.

d1001 will do things well for you...no isolation though but a good customizable can

treble is bloody excellent for the price!

are u handy? u could probably re-cable it for $20 or so

i think the sr60 is renowned for rock though...id say sr60 or d1001..
Has anyone heard them both?

i wouldn't consider the hd280s portable, they are huge! My vote goes to Denon D1001. PX200s are small and portable, but hard to get a good fit. If they dont seal against your ears, you will get very weak base response.

I am on the same hunt. I bought Senn PX-200 and they are pretty bad. I spent last night listening to them vs everything else in the house (about 10 different HPs) and everything beats them. I got them because the Senn PX-100's as SO GOOD (but open). Who knew.

Now the Denon D1001 are more like big regular cans, not the look or fit I think we want here.

My tentative solution is the Ultrasone iCans. People love it or hate it, just like big Ultrasones. Price is all over the map, but the white ones are $78.27 on Amazon. I do like the Ultrasone "sound" (I have Pro 750's) so I think I will be OK.

I've been given other suggestions, but all more expensive. Anyone?
