So one day my roommate just could not stand my porta pros anymore, and asked me to take them off and play something to find out how much the sound bled out to the atmosphere of the humble surroundings we were in. Well, it felt like he was listening to things as much as I did, pretty much scary for me. I can't listen to the 530s all the time because I am a little too lazy to put them on after holding them in my ear for 10 seconds after every time i take them off. so now I need to get some closed ear headphones, my novice intuition says they'd not do as bad as the pros in dissipating sound to the outside, please correct me or suggest any good headphones under $100-50?
Thanks.

Yep, the HD280 are great office 'phones for me. I really like the sound quality, even through a cheap Behringer USB sound card.

I used the HD280 for music, games and movies in bed next to my sleeping wife... she can not hear a thing. even when she is awake and reading she says she can't even tell their on. I liked them a lot, price and sound is very good. Some say they are uncomfortable, but just after a few hours use they loosened up a lot and were pretty comfortable (to me).

The RX700 is far superior to the HD280 (or any of the other Senn HD2xx) in sound and comfort. The HD280 does isolate a bit better, but isolation is usually sufficient in the RX.

Rex, your constant forwarding of the RX700 is quite annoying. State what you say in helpful terms, such as: I prefer the Senn HD215 over the RX700 because the RX700's boomy bass makes me dizzy. Fun though :p

Not only that, but the RX700 is semi open. Which means it doesn't leak sound, but it lets sound in; if you think it isolates sufficiently, you have your music turned up.

However, for its price range, the RX700 is kick-awesome

What kind of music do you listen to?

When I first started listening to HD280s, I didn't like them. Now they have grown on me, and I like them a lot. (Soundwise, DT150s are my absolute favorite phones, but sometimes I prefer the 280s because they are soooo much more comfortable! They also isolate exceptionally well.)
I have ordered RX700s, and am curious to find out how they compare (and whether or not they live up to the hype.)

I like bass to be one of the top things that it can deliver, I've ordered hd280s for now, i've been using porta pros and they have a LOT of bass. But my roommate can hear me as much as i can hear what i'm listening to, so i hope they give me both...

Aren't HD280s anemic sounding? Fwir, of course.

I like the Koss PRO3AAT and they only go for $40 on eBay. They are however bass heavy/bright.

I'm sorry, but when I listened to HD280's, they had terribly anemic bass. For that price, you should've gone ATH-ES7 or Denon D1001.

Are they closed? I'm sorry but i'm completely out of idea about headphones.
