every single night of my life since i bought my HD650's i've used them very easily while laying down and going to bed...and they end up staying on all night long. they are by far the most comfy out of any other phones i've tried (besides the ety's) when lying down because of the open design. they never get hot and even with my small head they don't really move around. so there's no worry about the sides of the pillow obstructing the open design if you position the pillows right. i have a tempu-pedic pillow and it works the best for these types of situations, especially with the curvature of the pillow. another reason the HD650 works wonders while you sleep is because they don't stick out (horizontally, or rather perpendicular from your head). so the liklihood of the pillow hitting the sides and pushing the headphone around is smaller. now the sound of the HD650 is another story!
