Cayin iDAP-8 streamer and iDAC-8 DAC

A question guys.
Is it possible to disable hiby music player in idap8?
Thanks in advance

The HiBy Music App in iDAP-8 is a system-level application, you can't delete the app or disable the app completely.

Agreed! The HiBy app is incredibly slow, frustrating, and difficult to navigate. I hope that Andy tells the powers that be to invest a little time and address the issues brought up by my customers. Since I listen to music to add enjoyment and relaxation to my life, not to increase my frustration levels, I'm basically looking at a $1400 brick.

I've added Neutron Player, Amazon Music and XM Radio apps via the Google Play store
The apps are all listed under the "Streaming" Icon on the IDAP8's home screen

Don't use the Hiby/Cayin Music player and only these.
Did have (but canceled my subscription) to other services like Tidal and Qobuzz who's apps are in the Google Play store, and were on my iDap8
The Neutron player on the IDAP8 to me sounds better (Cleaner, much more dynamic) than the built in player, and the customization features in Neutron all work on the installed version of Android without problems. Only gripe is the Neutron Interface is still not the most user friendly, but I've grown accustomed to it
The app also still bypasses the Android system for sound quality.

Being able to add my own music players, which all can access the internal SSD drive I added to the device is a major reason I like using the IDAP8, along with it does NOT have a built in DAC to have to bypass over other devices on the market, allows me to use the IDAP8 for my Desktop Stack
Because of this, not being able to disable the Hiby Player does not bother me.

Hope this info helps

What I don't understand is.
You can integrate Tidal in the hiby music app, works fine.
But you can't use my phone as remote control the idap8 to play music.
What's the point?
Cayin need to fix this, it's a deal breaker.

That's disappointing.
At least let the user to disable the app.

Also will idap8 ever get Tidal connect?
The hibycast app is too sluggish, and horizontal orientation make it even less user friendly on a phone.

While HiBy Music Player is a System-level App, users can install other Music players for local music playback. Popular music player apps such as Neutron Music Player and UAPP (USB Audio Pro Player) will offer very diversified features and UI, there is bound to be one player that works for you.

iDAP-8 is based on a heavily customized Android 9.0 system with Google Play pre-installed. We need to have at least ONE music player app at the system level to make iDAP-8 workable when users didn't activate a Google account.

Have you tried HiByCast? You can control the iDAP-8 to play music via your mobile phone, including manipulating third-party applications such as Tidal Qobuz, Spotify, Apple Music,...

Hibicast is too slow, sluggish.
And the horizontal orientation of the phone make it even more cumbersome to use.
Will Cayin ever get Tidal connect certified? Very important!
Interesting, we have used HibyCast in shops and show demo, it is not responsive like a native software maneuver but I won't call it sluggish either.

The iDAP-8 is landscape orientation by design, so remote control by mobile phone has copied/retained the original UI design of the iDAP-8. If you prefer a completely different and independent mobile controller, you can try HiByLink, this is not exactly a remote controlling app, the app read the headers of the local music library of iDAP-8 and reorganise it on your mobile phone, so you can "control" the plackback via you Hiby Music App on your mobile phone. However, this will limited to local music library, third party streaming app will not open their file headers to third party, hence not accessible by HibyLink.

Sorry, we have no plan to pursue Tidal connect at this moment. There are other priority feature/authentication we are working on right now. We didn't have this feature in our roadmap, and we have not mentioned this feature in our marketing campaign, we are sorry if this is become your deal breaker.

Hibycast is really slow man, so does the eversolo cast app is the same issue, too slow.
When you scroll down, it either stops to slow or catch back delayed, that's definitely sluggish.
But hibylink doesn't work with Tidal integration.
That's the whole point of a streamer, at access online contents.

Sorry to know that you can't find the streamer that serves your purpose.

Is there a reference streamer that meets your preference and we can learn from? That we can try to customize our software to a more "ideal" status? To stay within context, let's limit our discussion to Android-based streamers so there is a bigger chance that the solution is technically feasible for iDAP-8. We can be flexible on the price range though, maybe up to 1.5x of the retail price of iDAP-8?

hello all.
i have the dab i8 and also the dac8. instead of the aurender n100c but i think i will keep that one for a while
i just bought the idab8, i spent 2 hours trying to connect to the hibycast app, finally it works but it keeps losing its connection.
also the dac keeps upsampling. so far i am very dissatisfied, when will there be an update that everything works stable. because otherwise i am forced to return it, music should be relaxing but with the idab 8 i am not succeeding so well unfortunately.
kind regards leon

It's just a software matter.
The issue with the idap8 is the software, not being very user friendly and responsive.
Solutions:
1, Make Hibycast possible to switch to vertical screen orientation.
2, Fixed the Hibylink to work with Tidal integrated.
3, Get Tidal connect, even cheap Ifi, Bluesound products have Tidal connect.

I'm considering an idap8, and want to use Tidal. Would you or Cayin technical support please provide a workable procedure to stream tidal to a dac: using phone apps or/and using idap8 front display menu?
Thank you.
