Cat ate K1000 wires - replacement wire suggestions??

Apr 12, 2006 at 8:21 PM Post #16 of 53
My cats know better than to mess with any of my stuff. They climb on top of everything in the house, but have never even attempted to get on top of my speakers, even when they're sitting a couple feet away on the AV rack. They do like to crawl through the wires behind the rack, though, but since they haven't yanked anything out yet I let them.

Forget the recable, it sounds like it's time to upgrade your cats.

You could make a nice fur out of your cat.

Step 1.
Sell cat (if possible, or give to some kids to take home)

Step 2.
Buy fish.

= No more problems.

About the cable, maybe try one of the Head-fi sponsors...

I would shoot the cat in the back of the head with a BB gun when he/she is not looking.

This would be the perfect opportunity to send your K1000s off to Moon Audio for a hardwired recable.

Tried not to reply to this with a follow up post, bc usually the animal haters come out in these types of threads..
Yeah it is difficult having wild animals *ahem* domesticated animals at the spot with gear around. I am usually strategic in playing with the cats while monitoring of just before so that they are not overly inclined to play with the delicate wire housing/cables..

My cat Danka was trained on a leash to chill outdoors and just sits safely in our fenced in yard out back, and my monitoring sessions are claw/teeth mark free as a result..two way win, the kitties get to go out and stare at the birds wishing huntful and hateful crap on them, while I am inside and can listen to some great tunes uninterrupted.

VERY sorry to hear about your lines..as I read in another humorous post above, your feline may be blessed with a golden ear, and is simply attempting to communicate that it is time for a re-cable on those cans!!!

(hope it works out, let us know how it goes)

I love animals, and although can understand being upset, it is totally not their fault in some ways (the animals), as the instincts TAKE over when these mysterious long legged black spider legs often "come to life" or "jump out of no where from the floor".... (the cable monster)

They are just practicing their ninja attack defense moves for your safety their in the domicile, against would be insect pests, and other non invited arachnids..

Yeah...I kinda agree here, but is frustrating nonetheless and understand from a pet owners perspective, bc is hard to watch them all the time, you almost have to have certain areas of the pad designated per sessions...(only most of us already have an "area" for sessions and listening in every room in the house, complete with rig, hp jack, amp, & transport...

I tried getting my cats in line with some gear of their own -but so far they can't dig it..and are showing no interest in the cans?? They look more out the window for hummingbirds, other cats, and cans of their own more suited for feline hearing maybe??..Everytime I take their cans and amp out, they just yawn with a non-enthusiastic look...

Considering that the OP didn't smear tuna over his cable, I would say that the cat is more at fault here. If they must share the blame, I'd say 33% to OP, 67% to the cat.

----------------

Seems like those topics pop up several times a year. I don't think anyone -hate- animals, or genuinely endorse harming the cat in anyway. I know I didn't when I implied that a cat should be microwaved a while back. It didn't go well with the more sensitive cat-lovers

Interestingly, I've yet to come across a "dog chewed my cable" thread. Either I missed them all, or dogs are just more... cable friendly

You are right. It is defiantely the kids fault when he climbs the ladder, falls in, and drowns in a family's pool.

The kid wouldn't know any better, and the cat doesn't either. If you don't want it damaged, maybe it should be kept out of reach.

I have a dog, as a puppy she chewed on the wire to my laptop. It was MY fault, and as a result I keep a better eye on what I leave in her reach.

It's tragic, but I would blame the kid (or his curiosity) rather than the person who put the ladder there in the first place (plus, when did I use absolutes terms like "definitely" - if that's that's the word you meant to use). Now if someone put the ladder there, asked the kid to go up, then yes, you would have a point.

Ignorance is rarely an excuse. You want to take responsability for your dog's action, that is your choice. But normally, a person who run over someone else by accident would still be charged for manslaughter.
