I just bought a pair of JVC FX700. They seem solidly built and should be able to withstand years of use, but I was wondering what I should do to prolong their life.

Should I buy wax or oils to rub on the wood? If so, what wax/oil? I know my father uses Almond oil on his bagpipe reeds to keep them from warping (?)

Would it be best if they weren't set in a humid environment?

This is my first time using wooden IEMs, so advice would be appreciated.

don't be silly. You will have moved to the JVC FX800 or another pair welll before those fall apart....

Although, I wouldn't use them in the shower

just keep them inside the leather case whenever they aren't in use and you should be fine. But I would be wary of rain and humid environments.  To be sure, also keep them away from any heaters.

@ Inks

Thanks, I keep my IEMs in their respective cases anyways, so I guess caring for them shouldn't be a problem. I also don't have a stove/heater in my room lol.

I hope so too; it would seem kind of silly of them not to as this is a very expensive IEM...
