Can't pass the dts test. Trying to get bit perfect with wasapi.

I'm sorry if I missed something obvious but I've tried asio4all and wasapi with foobar 2000 with the appropriate plugins and I still fail the dts test getting nothing but a hiss from my speakers with dts sample files.  When using wasapi music sounds fine and works great but it's bugging me that it's not bit perfect.  What's confusing is that with wasapi the windows volume slider does nothing which makes me think it's working.  The foobar2000 volume slider does work however.  I got the dts test tracks here http://www.diatonis.com/surround_sound_music.html  and I'm running an optical cable from my asus p8z77-v pro motherboard to a harmon kardon hk3490 receiver that can supposedly decode dts.  The motherboard has realtek alc892 onboard.  I haven't been able to confirm whether or not it should actually be able to do bit perfect but it seems to have a fairly modern feature set.

Audio Realtek® ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC
- Supports : Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking
Audio Feature :
- Absolute Pitch 192kHz/ 24-bit True BD Lossless Sound
- DTS Ultra PC II
- DTS Connect
- Optical S/PDIF out port(s) at back panel

Any ideas?  I'm sure I'm just missing something simple.  Thanks gents.

I haven't tried to play anything at that high of a bitrate.  Just .flac and aac at 44.1hz.
