Hello again Head-Fiers!!

I've racked my brain with this one and come up with nothing. Basically using WinDVD or PowerDVD with my Klipsh Promedia 4.1's is causing one of two problems:

1. front and center (emulated), with no surround

As you can see the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 is on its own irq. Now here are the settings in the M-Audio control panel. Below those are the settings used in Windvd 5.

If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate them. My M-Audio 5.1 has been a mixed blessing. Tho it makes my flac tunes flutter, it spits farcry multi channel out in a sputter...

Unfortunately, you have only a 4.1 system. And you cannot get true 5.1 sound out a 4.1 system no matter what - because there is no center channel at all whatsoever in a 4.1 setup.

Oh, I read your dilemna. You are getting no phantom center at all whatsoever when set to 5.1. Could it be that you've connected the line connectors between the soundcard and speakers to the wrong jacks on the soundcard?

Check the surround-channel connection to the soundcard again. I've re-read your problem a second time, and found out that you've likely connected the surround-channel connection to the center channel jack by mistake. That will send a mono signal to the two surround speakers in your case, with both of your rears getting the exact same audio signal.

Well, I can accomplish that by pluggin' in the purple (rear) speaker mini to the center/subwoofer plug, so the labels are right, unfortunately. Also, if I play a cd and select "x2" all 4 sats will play correctly.

Here's another pic to hopefully shed more light on my issue.

You'll see that I have windvd open and playing the THX water logo demo in a loop. (well, you can't see, but imagine

) My M-Audio control panel is set for 4.0 and windvd is also set for 4 channels. Unfortunately, there are no bars (or ambient noises) from the rear sats.

Alternatively, if I change the M-Audio control panel to a 5.0 setup and windvd to a 5 channel setup, all 4 sats work with a caveat. The center channel or emulated center channel that was very apparent in the first flash of the water logo has dissapeared.

So I know the system is capable of playing the center through the front sats and that the rear sats are functional as well. Trying to get them to play nicely at the same time is my problem.

Thanks aforehand!!

Jod

Edit: I was greeted by a nice fat "error-ie blows" window just as I clicked submit...fortunately, it was only ie being dumb once again. The reason this is funny...

It's a fresh install of windows...hell, I even rebooted in between driver updates
