Hi all

After a bit of close A/B 'ing with a OBH-21SE and the built in headphone amp on my EMU 1820M soundcard, I'm finding it hard to notice much difference in sound quality! I'm using K701s.

Am I weird? Or deaf? Or is it that the Creek is crap?!?!?! I'm going to try to take the K701s and the Creek into a store and A/B it against a different amp. When I contacted the store a couple of months ago they had a Musical Fidelity x-can3 and *I think* a Project amp or two. I will have to call to find out.

Anyhow, in the meantime I just wondered what you guys think to this?

Cheers

Max

Well, you want to get headphone amps of various prices for either of two reasons - you can hear the difference, or you want the psychological boost of a shiny amp.

The Creek is nothing special...try something with tubes maybe? Or keep comparing them.

If the amp is fairly neutral, then you wont notice much difference, not as much as you would having a better DAC.
