CanJam NYC 2023 Impressions Thread (February 25-26, 2023)

I guess I'll chime in on the Corona which I got to try briefly. I'm completely new to e-stats so the ones I tried here were my first (probably spoiled on them now). The Corina to me was spectacular, great reproduction of string instruments and nice impact from drums. Probably the best part of it was the sense of space; very wide and nice depth. Felt almost like I was in a room with music playing. I also tried the Stax 009S which was also amazing, but I would say the Corina edged it out slightly in all respects; truly one of the showstoppers for me that I was really impressed with.

On a side note, I tried the Meze 109 Pro off of Headamp's GS-X mini and was stunned. Such a dynamic and powerful headphone for a relatively low price. I'm definitely going to upgrade my amp to a GS-X mini after hearing it with a couple of headphones and might need to get the 109 pro down the line as well.

On the Blue Hawaii for Corina?

Anyone hear the Z10e LTA with any of the stats?

Met the famous Birgir, from Iceland, builder of the carbon cc amp I own. He was at the Eksonic table. I asked him a few really basic questions and he couldn't have been nicer. A living legend in the estat amp world.
I wonder why he is in a table of a direct competitor… :smirk:

Yep, they were on the Blue Hawaii.

I also heard the Audeze CRBN on the Z10e LTA at Audeze's both and thought it sounded well rounded, somewhat similar to my impression of the 009S. The amp itself was impressive, definitely had a sense of quality and I very much enjoyed the feel of the volume knob. I was at about 60-65 steps to get a decently loud volume so it seems to have plenty of headroom as well.

Thank you for your advice. I just dislike dragging the thread that is why I kept editing and adding to my own posts.

Spent lot of time with Cayin N7 DAP. This DAP is warm and doesn’t have great extension in treble. If your IEM is too hot to handle and thin sounding then this DAP might work. With Maestro Mini it was warm and dark with Trialli it was ok. The mids or vocals have details but it’s the treble or shimmer that is missing. RS8 works much better with both Maestro Mini and Trialli for eg and has similar details in vocals apart from having a better treble. The vocals are warm but is not organic sounding like say Metrum or Schiit dac but reminded me of Airist R2R from drop.
