I apologize if this isn't the correct forum but I wasn't sure who was the administrator to contact to ask which as, please move it if necessary.

Title says it all, I have noticed a significant price difference between US and Canadian providers of audio equipment and was wondering what my fellow canucks do. I live in the GTA and work in downtown Toronto if that helps.

I have purchased some of my gear from local pro audio and music stores like Tomlee Music. The rest of the time I purchas from online sellers or buy from this sites for sale forum.

I buy my stuff pretty much here now on Head-fi, or at a local BST forum such as redflagdeals. Once in a blue moon a local dealer may have ok sale going on (such as Bay Bloor Radio who are otherwise ridiculously expensive, but they did at one point sell the igrados at $60 and D1001's at $120 on clearance, which isn't too bad), but other than that these places just rip you off too much.

Other day I went to Cosmo Music, and they were selling the AKG K240 at $200 and K271 at $300, USED. Good grief.

Musical instrument dealers primarily. Places like Long & McQuade, Axe Music, etc. If they don't have what I want, then I just get what I need off e-bay or a US dealer that ships up here.

The FS forums here have treated me very well so far. I will likely never buy new gear again unless I catch a super sale.

Another good place to check out is canuckaudiomart.com. I found my most recent little gem there, a Little Dot II++, and got a pretty good deal on it.

I picked up my cans at Long & McQuade, who regularly stock the Beyer DT 770 & 990 PRO models.

I also keep an eye on kijiji.ca, though I haven't made any audio-related purchases there, yet.

Oh, and I've also found these places, though I haven't bought anything from them: ozenterprises.net and obadimports.com.

Buy from the States, unfortunately, unless you have a good neighbourhood stereo shop.

Almost all my gears, with the exception of my Cowon D2, was obtained through Head-fi's For Sale section (for gently used gear), and through US stores (for new gear).

If your looking for Grado and new try National Sound on Queen St near Bathurst St...... fair prices.

If your looking for Beyers and some AT try Steves Music.

Happy hunting.
