No problem.

@Thorsten Loesch commented on the battery management of the Diablo several times in the last couple of pages on the OG Diablo thread.

I recall him doing a visual comparison of the boards of the OG and the 2, he might care to comment.

Read all his posts and got into SE vs balanced 😂😂 , so how should the D2 be used in a desktop setting? I'm always afraid to leave a battery device constantly connected

So you use the Diablo in a desktop setting?
Leaving it constantly connected?

Yes.

I power it from a Samsung 25 watt charger regularly for the last couple of years and for the last couple of weeks it has been powered on continuously. That is the power supply is connected and turned on, the Diablo is turned off at the end of a days use while working.

The Samsung is dead silent even with IEM. I have used it on a variety of gear as a power supply and it is silent with everything even powering a DAC, running a silent piece of audio and maxing out various amplifiers, the only noise is from the amplifier if it has noise with IEM.

I recently did a battery test with the Diablo using it until flat and it went somewhere around 8.5 hours with HD600 at normal volume on Evo gain. The battery doesn’t seem to have suffered from using it on a power supply for around two years.

EDIT TO ADD - on the OG Diablo the power supply actually improves the current availability for low impedance and low sensitivity loads, current that the battery can’t delete. Again confirmed by the designer and in my practical application. Not sure if the 2 suffers the same shut down issues with the likes of my DCA Aeon Noire and similar spec planars, if so logically a power supply would improve that.

Oddly the factory power supply was the poorest performing of the several I tried, worse even than a 5 watt iPhone charger from yesteryear, seriously.

Thanks man!
That's really reassuring, I'm still in some kind of fear but I think that disconnecting the device at the end of usage and than connecting it at the beginning of a usage would be also good considering there is no battery drain while off.

Also, do you use the Ifi Neo 2 by any chance?

My pleasure.

That is what I did for two years with no apparent adverse effect on the battery based on the all day run time.

No I don’t sorry.

@shimigg

Hope you don’t mind, I stalked checked your other posts to see what the Neo query was about.

I see you are use DCA X or was it XO, see my comments that I added as an edit above about the power supply and current into low impedance, I have the original Noire.

I have the original Noire and the X, the grip that D2 has on these is phenomenal
