I'm considering on buying the international portable dac/amp and need confirmation on whether the dac can be used to bypass the internal dac of a dap such as the i devices and android phones. I've heard this maybe possible due to the fact that the dac from the international draws power from the battery, not through the usb like the intruder by ray sameuls.

The International cannot bypass the DAC from iDevices

Only a few devices do that, Cypher labs algorithm solo (CLAS), Fostex HP-P1, Sony PHA-1 to name a few

It's not about where they draw power or anything like that.
These devices are licensed by Apple to be able to bypass iDevices DAC

I understand these will work with post-thunderbolt ipads. but not other idevices, using the camera connector. certainly my ibasso dac/amp works by this route and sounds great!

post thunderbolt iPads with CCK if I remember will use the CCK's own DAC which is pretty...not good.
