For example, if you put ear pads with harder material on headphones, could it possibly cause bouncing the frequencies in the cup,
making the sound muddy? (I've heard when a headphone measures ringing in the impulse response, the headphones usually have
poor soundstage).
The thing is, I have old Sony V6 with some pads from sound-damping cans and there is really no instrument separation and detail,
but the frequency response is about right.
