another movie and undoubtedly the sadest most depressing move I have ever seen and wouldnt doubt its one of the saddest films of all time

"Failan" its a korean film, the whole movie is depressing and just sad, there isnt an inkling of happiness in it and what comedic moments you may come across gets hit with a sadness in the scene 10 fold.

anyone wanting to watch a heart wrenching drama, if you ever come across an asian movie store, look at Failan,

this movie was just so moving to watch, and the story just lingers with you, its also wonderfully directed.

the acting is very good, and the lead actor performs some scenes that are so realistically moving, you cant help but sympathize with his on screen character. watch it alone and bring out the tissue paper because this is definately one that will make you cry.

Haven't seen it. I thought Requiem for a Dream was pretty depressing, though. I guess it could be sad too, but man after watching that for the first time I walked away feeling depressed, a bit disturbed, and kinda sick to my stomach. Not many movies make me feel ill, but that's one of them.

Trainspotting is sorta disturbing too, but at least it has humor to balance things out.

Hmm, my sister-in-law gave me Failan DVD few weeks ago. I haven't got a chance to see it, but now I think I'll see it this weekend to see how good really it is. Thanks!

I wholeheartedly agree. I felt disturbed after watched Requiem for a Dream, haven't gotten around to watching it again since.

I'll keep an eye out of it.

Probably the 2 most depressing films I've watched is Alien 3 (

) and Graveyard of the Fireflies. After watching GOTF, I had a significantly better appreciation of what I've have in my life. Its the only anime that made me cry. Very highly recommended.

The Plague Dogs... original cut. Thorn-EMI VHS release. Not the edited down version.

Check out Grave of Fireflies, from Studio Ghibli. It's the anime telling of the story of 2 children orphaned by the bombing of hiroshima...

Korean dramas are relentless. Look at Tae Guk Gi: Brotherhood of War. Pulls no punches and really tries to make manly men cry.

Yes, Graveyard of the Fireflies was just ridiculously sad for anime, or for a movie period.

And to think that when I was a teen I thought "The Last American Virgin" was the most unfair movie ever lol.

Three more disturbing/sad films are:

GUMMO by Harmony Korrine (Made me feel dirty)
Julienne Donkey Boy by Harmony Korrine (Made me feel crazy)
VULGAR by Kevin Smith? (Made me feel creepy)

Oh, "Happiness" was horrible too, from the creator of "Welcome to the Dollhouse." Pedophilia to the max.
