Just use a box cutting blade, you can poke the end of the wire through the plastic and pull down on it this will tear through the majorty of the heat shrink, finish the job carfully! with a box cutting blade, the memory wire will pull out of its foundation

Nice review graham to bad ure taste in music :D
When one has tools more precise than a box cutter, they might as well make use of them.

I don't know about that, mine are a better job than the ones pictured and that's with a tinsel cable. you cant say a razor blade is not precise- its all down to the hand guiding it, and his post was aimed at people that do not have the specialist tools required or the the required patience it takes to wait for them to be delivered. like 99 percent of the population

Well, now you're just going to have to put your money where your mouth is and how off just how much better yours looks. Why does that even matter? Do you know how sloppy people can be with box cutters? It's great that you've got the skill, but you need to remember that not everyone can do what you claim you can do. Perspective is... everything.

Also, it was a $7 tool that I could afford and afford to wait for. Who is not able to wait to perform an elective (read as: non essential) procedure on a freaking IEM cable?

Are you really trying to turn this into a pissing contest? If so, can you please explain to my why anyone should care?

i was triing to be helpfull to people without the "proper" tools ie not people who have the tool and then your there like,,,, Well I have the proper tools so nerr i'm going to derail the comment and be a girl about everything and to add, expect some argument also when you claim that a razor is not precise, because this could not be further from the truth. please and thank you

nope, right now I am just confused that you think your original reply wouldn't trigger a response such as this ,
Perhaps, you may want to review my reply again?

You criticized the approach of multiple people here, and diminished our desire to be careful with a rather expensive product. Since I already have tools to cut the shrink with precision, I pointed that out. The snippers were because I wanted a flush cut of the wire. Your comment was... ill conceived.

Now that we're on the subject, would you mind providing a photo of how the memory wire inserts into the molding of the Tinsel cable? The way it's inset (with a curl) on the Litz, simply ripping it out is more likely to damage/crack the plastic form and possible damage the cable itself.

Please forgive us for wanting to be careful with our favorite equipment. I can afford $7 wire cutters, and the 3 day wait for them. I cannot afford to replace a $150 cable. Again... perspective is everything.

Yeah, why bother with tools at all? Just chew it off. This troll is obviously from the Hillbilly school of self-dentistry.
:p

Oh man can't wait!. In losless right?. How does ´Alien Manifestation´ sound?, My current set just isn't doing it justice, that's one Powerful track. Epsecially in 24/96. Also how does `Possesed by A Diesease` sound?. If you can give some inputs id appreciate it :).
Just wanted to chime in an update. Tonight, I borrowed my friend's Lyra II. I really wanted to hear the Nier: Automata OST with something that wasn't so bass forward and had less recessed mids. So far, I prefer hearing this OST on Lyra II. It's been a very enjoyable 20minutes.

Interesting. Nice job. It's your call. I like the bare cable.
Tonight, I offered to take the memory wire out of my friend's Lyra II cable. Her 2nd layer of heat shrink is well stuck to the inner layer. So, I had to remove both. You are so right... feels like a fine yarn draping behind my ear. I'm going to remove my inner sleeve as well. Thanks again!

How different was it aside from the heavy mid/low base?. I went ahead and bought the Vega I should have it by sometime next week.

I like a solid floor to my music, and Vega definitely delivers on that, but at the cost of a slightly-recessed mids. On Lyra II, the vocals soar and instruments a bit more robust. This comes at the cost of decreased resolution and imaging. Overall, I still find Lyra II to be too bright for my taste and I really do love the detail of Vega. You will not be disappointed. Wish I had access to Andro to check those.

On a side note, this weekend was been pretty intense for me in that I'm easily over stimulated. As such, I don't get to listen to my normal genres. This OST has been really enjoyable these past two days.

Alright, you've all convinced me about Campfire. A pair of Lyra II are due in today from a fellow Head-Fi'er. I'm anxious to hear the CA sound.
