I'm debating a set of Fostex T50RP, or a modded variant, but I want to know how durable they are.  My last set of cans had structural problems, suffering 2 breaks over 3 years just from every-day use--not good for $170 headphones.

So, have you, dear T50RP owner, had yours break?  If so, what caused the break and how hard was it to fix them?

They are surprisingly durable. I wouldn't say that the materials are exceptional, but the design is good and the likely break points are well engineered. I've taken these headphones apart hundreds of times and, aside from stripped screw threads, all the damage they suffered were because of my clumsiness.

Mind you, if you're throwing them in a backpack, all bets are off...
