Actually they can.
Another customer of FitEar seems to have done this.

nah I am going to get them I forgot to add the inbound before it I will probably be getting them in march-june area but I am getting westone 3's along with custom tips this week

Don't work backwords. Headphonaddict says that the 11's are better than the c-3's so if you're gonna get some comparisons get the E.A.R. Z-5 five drivers and let us know if they get even close to the UE's

Problem with the z5 is it has the livewire connector. don't really care for the connector. If they could use the standard connector I am game.

Well I sent them an email asking if they could use the ue connection. Guess I will find out if they ever get back to me.

I unfortunately inquired about this option a few weeks ago and the result was a negative. Only reason I have held back from ordering them. I hate the swivel connector as you do, and would also have jumped on them if they could have used the UE style connector.
