I'd rather a proper cable and have things right from the get go.
Theorizing about how things should be is fine but I still prefer my subjective facilties.



In case you missed my point and aren't just ignoring it... Our minds and senses have the ability to filter for us if we're exposed to low level constant noise or some sort of imbalance. That's why direct A/B testing is more accurate than comparing long term impressions.

When I tried hearing as objectively as possible, I put effort into not deceiving myself, or at least I did the best I could. It's like trying to visualize a three dimensional image of yourself in a mirror.

That's a sticky one as there are bad ears out there and mediocre gear...but you'll never get a conviction!
