Hi,

I got myself a new pair of HD 600s and a used Schiit Magni from eBay to power them.

There is a very loud buzzing or humming sound in the right channel, this gets much worse if I touch the volume knob and it gets quieter if I touch the ground on the outside of my headphone jack. If I turn the volume knob up past about 90% this goes away completely and sounds fine. The left channel also sounds fine throughout the volume knob's range.

I've tried it using different 3.5mm to RCA cables, connected to my desktop computer's onboard audio and connected to my phone, and have tried different electrical outlets in multiple houses and the problem does not go away.

The issue going away at certain positions on the volume pot suggests to me that it's a bad pot and needs replacing, but I don't really know anything and would appreciate any advice!

Sounds like the grounding on that channel is bad. Probably came loose when someone dropped it.

Try contacting Schiit Audio. I'm sure they could help you with investigating the issue and a repair.

Also place the magni on a wooden surface and see if the buzzing is still there. I had some buzzing and it was due to static on my floor's tiles...
