What's the most money you spent on something without auditioning it, what was it, and did you regret your decision?

Probably around $2000+, and no I didn't regret my decision.

$1100 on some Edition 9's. Waiting for them as we speak. Any moment now....

I really doubt I'm going to regret this one based on what I've read on Head-Fi.

$60 on SR60, don't regret it.

Also $350 on a Rega P1, which still hasn't shipped

But I don't expect myself to regret it

I buy most everything (electronics or not) based upon etensive research. I can't think of anything I have purchased based upon auditioning.

I guess the highest pirced single item I've purchased without auditioning in the electronics world is about $1,000 for my receiver (I purchased at half price when "next years" model came out). I've also purchased a $2,000 bed (love it 6 years later), a $1,600 treadmill, etc etc all without auditioning.

Like many already, nearly all my purchases are without auditioning; however, the only headphone I've purchased off pure speculation was pre-ordering the E500's. To my pleasant surprise, I liked them--even after using the ER-6i's for awhile.

So, E500 - $499.99 Not too bad. At least I knew I could've always used the FOTM infection to re-sell them if I had needed.
