Like the fellow looking for Grado RS-1 dealers, I am looking for Sennheiser dealers who actually have something in stock in Southern California (preferably the San Gabriel Valley). I am interested in hearing the HD-580 and the HD-595. I called a few places listed on their website and no one near me has any demos. As an alternative, what online dealer would you recommend in terms of price/shipping/service?

Also, is there is big difference between the two or would the HD-580 be good enough for someone who has decent, but not golden ears like me? Thanks all!

the 580 needs an amp to shine, the 595 don't.

Different people have different preferences, but you really shouldn't think of the HD580 as the lesser phones (don't go by the numbers - the HD580 is closer to the HD650 than the HD595 for instance).
