Buying my first amp! LDM+, Xenos OHA-REP or Go-vibe v5?

Andrea, it is not personal, but you are making it so. The fact that not everyone hears the same fails to register in your brain. Stop being sarcastic and condescending with your posts and perhaps you will gain credibility. At this rate all you are doing is alienating yourself.

Thanks, I value your advice, although I don't know if I agree about being alienating myself.

Andrea, play nice.

Hey, I'm gonna throw a wrench into the works and recommend the mSeed Labs Faith amp. It's in the price range you're seeking, and although I can't make comparisons to the others, I think it's a bargain. If you buy it from their website, there's a 14 day return policy.

And no, I have no connection to the company whatsoever. I paid for my amp just like anyone else would.

Doing a quick digression, It's funny that just as you start recommending an alternative road to headphone amps (we live in a free world), you inevitably get indicted of being involved in some obscure traffic.

Hey Solitary1......want to get together to compare the mSeed Labs Faith Amp with the Go-Vibe v5 and the LDM+?

I'm liking that mSeeds amp. Guess I didn't do enough research....didn't know about this one. That digital controllable gain for the volume looks pretty killer.

We need another North TX meet....couldn't make the one back across the summer.

When I receive the Faith Amp (Mr Yang said it should take a week - knowing the Italian Customs' habits, I'm not so optimist though I still hope it'll travel smoothly) I can put it vis-à-vis with my Go-Vibe (modded to be very much like a AD8397 PINT) and my other incoming amp, the 2nd 0HA-REP I've bought.

I could be easily persuaded to do that. A mini-meet would also be nice, as I also missed the big one a few months back. Round up the troops, and let's set something up.

I have a Pint, and didn't say much about the differences/similarities between the two because I haven't really had a chance to do much with it. I just received mine Friday (well, I've had it a while but MisterX just made it usable for me). Maybe I'll do a comparison later this week. The Pint would be a viable option for the OP if he can find one used.

I think I might go with the xenos after all, and save that little bit for a good IC. Is there a low-gain version of this amp? Will I need one? What's a good IC to go with this?

There in no low gain version but you can e-mail Alberto for gain settings. I use Cardas HPI 6" interconnect and it is value for money!

Good decision

For the cable, you may try the Kimber Cable GQ-Mini Cu. I'm super happy with mine.

Just FIY, other cheap amps, one of them -casually- being the 0HA-REP, have been reported to power the K701 with great results. Even the LDM+.

You mean the gain can be manually adjusted? Is it a simple process?

if portable amps [albeit more affordable too] can power highher end cans that are demanding then it sorta renders higher end amps moot no? i guess system synergy also plays a part in the equation.

some of my friends who've got these cans [namely the hd650,600 and the k701] have always maintained that a high end amp is necessary to drive them and give justice to the potential these cans are capabale of. most of their amps are a few times more expensive than their cans.

the cans do sound phenomenal but for the price they paid, hmm i'd just rather spend the dosh on CDs.
