I have a brand new pair of Sennhesier HD600's coming in the mail in a few days and was wondering if I should burn them in first or just listen to them and let them burn in over time?

Listen to them and burn them in at night. Sennheiser products needs a lot of burn in time.

Listen to them. Burn-in may or may not be all that important. In any case, the best burn-in is with them on your head and your favorite tunes playing!

Give them a listen for 3 or 4 hours then burn in for 50 hours and give it a listen for another 3 or 4 hours. I would do this for a minimum of 3 times. I like to burn in my equipment for 250 hours though.

Better with tones apparently but music is fine.

If you have a broad selection of music, try using a little bit of all of it. Really, though... I find that tracks with dynamic treble and heavy bass work rather well to temper your cans.

by playing music too loudly before they are burnt in, yes. play music/tones at just above your comfortable listening level

Thanks for the info! I guess I'll use them normally without overloading the volume when I use them. Then at night Ill burn them in with say pink noise etc!

Any good tones or cd I should get?

I play a frequency sweep through realplayer and make it repeat.

I believe this. I wanted to throw my HD485s away when they were brand new.

After a solid break-in period- they're completely different and much improved.
