Source/Amp - unamped into my Macbook Pro and iPhones 6s
How the gear will be used - planning for home and travel use.
Preferred tonal balance - Warm, smooth and balanced similar to my Shure 1540's. still fun, not too reference/clinical.
Preferred music genre(s) - Electronic, Rock, New Wave, Dreampop, Jazz, Rap, R&B, Alternative, Ambient, Industrial. I do listen to a lot of trebly rock like My Bloody Valentine which can be grating on some sets.
I've put a bunch of things in storage and regrettably boxed up my Shure 1540's a few months back which involves a bit of work to dig them out. I have RHA T-20i's that suffice for the most part but lately miss the soundstage and oomph of full sized over-ears. I'm flexible on either semi-open or closed back since I'm not concerned with that much sound leaking.
The sound sig on my Shure's that I love are just a slight bump above neutral with warm, smooth bass. Close to what I remember reading HD650s.
Appreciate any suggestions on what to pick up!
