Hi all, I have a few pairs of in ear but they become uncomfortable after awhile of wearing. So even though I appreciate their better sound quality(for the same price range) I'd rather have some traditional headphones. Being a poor college student my budget is under $50(I may be able to stretch it just a lil bit if there's one product that's heads and shoulders above others. But that seems unlikely). Whether or not the headphone isolates well from the surrounding isn't important since I'll be using it in the library mostly, what's important is that it doesn't leak sounds too bad(don't want to anger other people in the library since I like my music slightly loud), I know those 2 tends to go hand in hand, but I'm just throwing this out there.

So any suggestions as far as headphones goes?

Thanks in advance! Appreciate it!

ps. also, porta pro is out of the question, I used it once and it's REALLY ugly and it also leaks sound really bad.

hmm, heard about the sweating problem with those, are those going to be comfy for extended wear?

I had a listen to these and the 900s and was comparing them to my D1001's, and I have to agree :frowning2:

They're like half price.

X6, FWIR.

Although I don't like you for saying the portapros are ugly. Although they are not 'modern' styling, they still look good.

But anyway, the only closed models I know in that price range are the UR-20 and the RX700, and I'm pretty sure the rx700 wins that one. I've read it sounds like junk before it's been burned in though.

OKAY, QUESTION, if i already have the denon 1001'a

1. Keep it?
2. Sell and buy rx700?

I think the D1001's are better than the RX700's

Maybe not better value per SQ.. but definately better.
They are also more comfortable. more portable.

keep 'em

Keep it, the rx700 aren't better, per say, but they're a lot cheaper. I like the sound of the D1001 better, maybe it's because mine are fully burned in, whatever, but the rx700/900 sound pretty darn good.

Also, like above, nothing beats D1001 comfort wise

Just how uncomfortable is the rx700 compared to denon?

The reason I'm buying a pair of traditional headphones is because IEM irritates me after about 2-3 hours. So for this soundquality is 2nd to comfort and right above look.

Right Now, on amazon, I see Denon 501 at about 48 shipped. JVC 700 at 41 shipped(2 to 5 weeks sounds long too), Denon 1001 is around $100(out of price range).

So I have Three questions
Is Denon 501 considerably worse than 1001 and how is its comfort?
How's the comfort of JVC 700 compare to the 501?
Are there lower prices from reliable sellers? Buy.com has everything listed as sold out.
