Was curious if you've heard of /heard the MusicMaker SHOCKWAVE III? It's a 5 Driver Hybrid (1DD + 4BA). I just read a review, and from the descriptor, this could be right up your alley. they were described as having sublime mids... I hope you get a chance to hear them.

 
Thanks for that Jinxy.  I read someone else's review and the only things that worries me is the reference to massive bass.  If I get the chance though i'll definitely check them out.

I find it really interesting how reviewers differ...I read the Golden Ear review, which described the bass this way: "Bass has great detail and impact, it's tight, dynamic and fast, north of neutral, but not reaching basshead territory. It's more about quality than quantity..."
 
Now I'd REALLY like to hear you're opinion, since I've somewhat of a grasp on your sonic preferences...
