I just recently broke my GR07s. The jack is all mess up.
I just wanted to know if it would worth just fixing the jack. How much would the sound be different after the DIY fix.
and if its not worth it, what are alternative IEMs that are recommeded at the $200 range?
Thank you.

Welcome to head-fi
Sorry about your wallet.

I don't know where you live, but ask in this thread if someone around your area can change the jack.

Contact this guy, he can recable the whole thing, even add detachable cables.

Or ask the guy from headphone lounge too.

Fixing the jack should not affect or improve sound quality (unless its very cheap) The Vsonic are well praised around here because of their performance/price ratio, You should stick with them, and fix the jack although should be interesting see detachable cables on those...

fobkc,

How long did you have the GR07 for? How did the cable break?

Email Address,

What was the cost of the re-cabling? Is it now detachable?

Thank you.

Looks like Brian's recommendation/setup is fixed/permanent cabling(non-removable),according to the sample picture he had referred "Email Address"? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Did you check with him whether he would send back original cable to you or it's his to keep? I don't think so,as it's your property but just..........

$76! Isn't that a bit steep considering the selling price of GR07 is only $130? Is there a difference in SQ?

Where is the Gr07 selling for $130

I checked ebay / amazon and other sites and can only find them for what i originally paid for mine $170+ shipping from china.

I figure that since i like the sound of the headphones and having a cool / quality cabling done will be worth the extra cash.

Now im on the hunt for a desktop amp that will run my gr07's and my hd600's well.
