Broken IE8

Hi everyone. I've had my IE8's for almost exactly 12 month and i absolutely loved them. After a weekend away, i returned home to find that the left earpiece has almost completely stopped working aswell as the right earpiece also having a massive reduction in volume. I have tried removing the cable, reinserting it the same / opposite way to no avail. Since they are within the 2 year warrenty set by Sennheiser i'm assuming i will be able to get them repaired, so i checked on the Sennheiser website and found that since they are still within 12 months of purchase the warrenty is with the retailer (Amazon). An email i received from Amazon told me to get in touch with Sennheiser in relation to repairs, i have not had a response back as of yet. Has anyone had similar issues / dealings with Amazon / Sennheiser customer services? Just so i know what route i'm likely to have to go down. Thanks
