So after some thought I did decide to go with the 400i. After looking at the X1, 400i, and the HD700, I actually found a pair of 400i on the for sale forum for a little under my budget. Can't wait to have a listen.

Hello to all!

I have a question regarding the balanced out of the ak 100II:

Is it a line out for IEM / HEADPHONES balanced 2.5mm  ou is it suposed to be a fixed level line out?

Thank you!!

HAHA I found myself doing the same, so I got an OTG cable, run the android through OTG and use the AK100ii as a dac/amp.

Far less guilt that way haha.

So the ak100ii does work with Android OTG as an audio device? I have been looking at these and if they can run with tidal on my android as well as my PC then we'll be in business. :p

Ha-ha they sure do

Out of curiosity do you or anyone know the standard output levels? Not sure on how to convert it into understandable units of measurements I understand which is mw with ohm loads.

I know they are designed for IEM's but I was wondering if they'd be able to handle full size cans easily.

It's a variable headphone/IEM out, just like the 3.5mm out

As the AK120ii was released in July 2014, do people think they will be due an update anytime soon?

Thanks

I tried with an LG G3, Sony Z1 Compact - both international versions, it worked flawlessly.
Make sure your device supports USB audio out. Before 4.4 usb audio was a hit and miss with manufacturers.

Hi I have a Pono Player and although I love the sound I can't stand its usability. I am contemplating splurging for an AK100 2 . I just wanted to put it out there, does anyone know how the sound of the Pono and AK par up against each other ? I would be interested to hear opinions if people think it would be a good upgrade sound wise and usability wise.

Grrorr76,
Just sent you a message in my experience with the 100ii. Fabulous unit. Can't give enough praise...I have never heard or used the Pono (but did consider it when shopping for my 100ii).

  There were some indications given in the AK380 thread that they were working on updates for the 100ii and 120ii, but no time frame as to when they would be released.

Ok thanks for the information. I had scanned that thread but not read fully, as I hadn't planned on buying it.

Hopefully its still a 1xx model number, AK120iii, as their model numbers seem to follow a pattern, that I hadn't noticed before;

AK[1]00ii/AK120ii = $[1]000-1999
AK[2]40/AK240SS = $[2]000-2999
AK[3]80 = $[3]000+

An AK100ii with more storage would be nice, or an updated AK120ii
