The case used for the prototype is from a amplifier Grado labs has been producing for years for the Medical industry,They are not balanced.

With all the big hoopla with Balanced Headphones these days,John set out to put out a reasonally priced balanced amp on the market.

I don't know what the final price would be(should fall inbetween The GS1000 & Ra1),that has to be determined by John,I am Beta testing the amp.I only got the amp thursday evening & was at a seminar in Baltimore over the weekend Close By Hirsch's,Stevieo picked me up so I brought it along for a little surprise.

I have only spent a little time with the amp due to my traveling,just got home.I will say this it sounded good with Hirsch's Balanced RS1s.
John also sent me a balanced GS1000 to try with the amp.I will spend time with the combo this week .

Reason for the adapters is the prototype amp Has male connectors(Had them on hand for test reasons) on the headphone side,This will be changed to Female connectors on production units.
Basically the amp is 2 RA1s in 1 box, I don't Know if any modifacations to the circuits have been done,John didn't say.

One note - we discovered the freesystems before the PS-1, but it looks like no one knew about the Grado amp (the case at least) before, even tho grado cans are on the front page. The internet does have some hidden nuggets after all!

Actually at the first Grado meet when John gave us the tour of Grado labs,
He showed us the cases & said he was making amps for the medical field at that time.

Gee I don't Know if I will bring the amp, it's pretty heavy
