First impressions are a bit disappointing to be honest but the good things first:
They sit well in my ears, they sound good, they look nice and call quality seems alright but that's about it (for now). I don't think I have much use for the wireless transmitter feature, even if it is innovative.
There's a lot to criticise for me unfortunately:
1. They are significantly quieter in volume than the Sony WF-1000XM4 and I don't like that. I didn't like it on my Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 and I don't like it here. A dual driver set up is a nice thing to have in theory but that's a bit disappointing.
2. Connectivity issues. The distance away from the phone is also significantly less than on the WF-1000XM4. Seems less than most other true wireless IEMs that I have owned so far. Also, a few minor drop outs in the first couple of listening hours.
3. Sound quality. It's been praised like crazy everywhere and I'm not exactly sure why. Yes they sound very good, no question. However, I'm not even sure that they sound much better than the Sonys (which is more a praise for the XM4 than it is a criticism for the PI7).
4. Battery life is really short in comparison. That's no new information of course and was known before even buying them but still I paid 150€ extra for them in comparison to the WF-1000XM4 and got half the battery life, so yeah that's still worth mentioning at the very least.
5. ANC is definitely not as good.
6. The case is pretty large.
7. Being unable to turn on transparency mode without the app is terribly inconvenient and should be fixed in a firmware update sooner than later if you ask me.
8. They are missing nice to have features of the Sonys like an EQ (!) or something like speak to chat etc.
So, these will be tough to keep for me. For 250€-299€, they would be an easier sell but for 399€ they really challenge me to not like them because of all their quirks and issues, at least for now.
