It's interesting how you say some songs sound weird on the PX8. The type of music I'm listening to is largely what dictates which pair I use. Some songs sound so good on the PX8 but others just sound limp and muffled and hence, better on the Bathys. This is my justification for the outrageous decision to own both.

Limp is a really good way to describe it. But I have ADHD and if I don't stick to one pair at a time I will genuinely switch out the damn headphones every 20 seconds for hours trying to discern the most minute differences so it's best if I just mentally stick to one pair at a time.
So head-fi was saying that the Apple Airpods Max is better than the Sennheiser HD 800S. And head-fi says that the B&W P8X is better than the Apple AirPods Max?
Same on Android. The app also shows an update is available for the Px7 S2 as well.
Edit: an hour and 15 minutes later, I am now on firmware version 2.0.0. Update worked on the first try but it took an 1 hour and 15 minutes...Px7 S2 is still updating after an hour using another phone. Definitely did not finish in 20 minutes for me so make sure you have time just in case.
My app shows 2 updates, one of Px8 and another for Px7 S2. Px8 has been updating for over 30 minutes now and is about halfway through. Going to start the Px7 S2 update now.
Yeah I agree too - thankfully I paid less than this new reduced price for mine anyway but $799 was a bit steep considering the PX8 price, although I'd argue the cost of the 007 and Mclaren editions were the most ridiculous.
Interestingly, the PX8 were also reduced In the place I got the bathys from too though so I wouldn't read too much into it. The guy I spoke to there said the Bathys outsold the PX8 in his store.
I agree, it was tough paying $100 more for the 007 edition. Logically, it makes little sense. Illogically, the headphones are beautiful and look great with the midnight macbook air.

To each his own and if the colour change is worth $100 to you, then it's worth $100. It was meant more in defence of the Bathys original price tag which was being criticised as in my mind it's kinda justifiable based on functional qualities rather than aesthetics. The value for money argument has been one to death on here though so I'm not going to re-visit it.

Value is what you make of it. If I love the sound of the headphones idc if it’s 600 or 800 or 900. Now, 1600 vs 800 I get it. But if they’re close in price…I just deal with it.

Sigh lol I just picked up the McLaren edition since Crutchfield finally got them in stock. I'm not addicted, I can stop whenever I want.
I had been using my Bathys mostly the last few weeks/months and I had even sold my Px8 a few weeks ago. I just flat out missed the sound of the Px8. Yeah the narrow soundstage annoys me occasionally and the sound can be weird on a few songs but overall the musicality and energy is just irreplaceable in modern ANC headphones and I had to. I was jonesing for them.
i've been trying to talk myself in to returning the PX8 for similar reasons. Some songs definitely sound weird on them, i get anoyed with the soundstage, and the mids and upper bass colliding, but they really do have a unique sound that I really like, and none of my other ANC headphones have. And that's probably why i'll end up keeping them.

It’s such a weird conundrum because the good is literally sonically amazing and one of the most unique sounds, I will ever hear, but the bad is like… Bad in a way that makes me not want to listen to the song but there’s no logic behind what sounds good and what doesn’t I can’t predict it is literally artist by artist and master by master.

I agree it seems inexplicable. I just can't make the stone roses sound good on them for example but I wouldn't have predicted this. Maybe it's the lack of soundstage.
