Bowers and Wilkins PX8 Wireless Discussion

So, according to majority of comments of this thread Px8 are the best sounding wireless headphones currently available across all options/prices. Do you agree with that?
I think it's PX8 & Bathys, they're different enough and both great. 5909 seems to be placed on the same tier as those two by most users, but it is 70% more expensive than PX8 and almost 50% more than Bathys, which to me disqualifies it based on price. It should be unabashedly better at that premium.

The 5909, my favourite from all 3 headphones, is NOT 70% (490 euros) more expensive than px8. The 5909 costing 1000 euros and the px8 costing 700 euros, a difference of 300 euros, not the almost 500 euros you're saying.

And the 5909 is NOT 50% (400 euros) more expensive than the Bathys, is actually 200 euros more. Bathys costing 800 euros and 5909 costing 1000 euros.

Same price difference in the USA, but change euros for dollars ($1000, $800 and $700)

For you. In the UK, which I think mainguy is, the 5909 are £999 while the B&W are £600.

Yes, but mainguy is replying to somebody living in Spain where people pay in euros. So, in many more countries, including the USA, the prices and percentages are what I'm saying.

What's the 'price to sound quality' ratio in general terms?
The best way I can describe it is if you have the money and you listen to your headphones more than well… You’re posting on this website, so you might as well save up your money and get into the bathys/Px8 category. You’ll be happy you did. It’s worth the extra. I promise.

Thank you - I was teasing a bit - I appreciate your response, which is spot on. I have the original P7 wireless and they're lovely.

The honest answer is that this is difficult answering. In general people have tendency for thinking and convincing themselves that because one product is very expensive then this product is very good. In audio (and other areas of life) the isn't always true and, in fact, is often false.

I prefer the 300 euros AirPods Pro 2 more than px8 and many others expensive earphones and headphones, for example.

I live in the UK. Here the 5909 is 67% more expensive than the PX8. Bathys is also £700 here. Apologies for assuming the prices were universal, in this case that level of variance is a bit odd considering the 5909 is the same 1000 currency units across all three.

Your point was perfectly clear. And I agree, the 5909 is the one that really stands out with its price tag which I think it cannot really defend.

I understand that in those terms, PX8 should be disqualified agains PX7 regarding sound/price relation. From 429€ to 699€ in Spain, more than 250€ between both…

Is strange that Mark Levinson choosing the price of £1000 for the UK market instead of £875-£900, more close with the EU prices that is usually happening with many products.

But more strange is that Apple keeping the same price for the new iPhone 14 (Pro) models as 13 (Pro) in the USA but raising the price significantly for the 14 (Pro) in Europe and UK.

Your point was perfectly clear.

Perfectly clear?? Wow!

Well, no one in their right mind buys a headphone for 700+ Euro for their ”good value”. It is a luxury and you pay a hefty premium for quite marginal gains.
And oh the leather. And oh how nice they are.

I think best bang for your buck normally is in the 250-400 Eur category, after that everything starts to get expensive.

The only problem with this is once you hear the better sound… Even if marginal, it is hard to go back to the worst sounding headphones, even if you intrinsically understand you are getting a better value.
