Bought DT 990 pro and not happy with it, what to buy instead?

Yes they are some of them
What you think about sennheiser 500 series, any recommendations?
Scarlett 2i2 suppose to be able to drive max 200 Ohm
I personally haven't listened to the 500 series, but based on extensive reading, they are good headphones but not upto the standards of the 'phones we have discussed. If you have available a Denon D2000/D5000, Fostex TH-x00, TH600/610 I would highly recommend them. Even if you have to be a bit patient with money.

I will try my best to be patient, maybe even sell the Scarlett 2i2, and just get a good amp/DAC and the HD600
Thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate that

Does the DT990 differs from the 880 in terms on sounds? I was disappointed at first with the 880 but I have gotten used to sibilance a bit and using Fiio E10K as amp.

DT880 fairly balanced and slightly bright sound,
DT990 strong bass/treble, which slightly overshadows the mids, but the mids are clear.

Guys I paid attention to something so weird.
When I am connected the DT990 pro directly to my laptop "msi gl62 6qf", headphones sounds better than when I connect it through Scarlett 2i2.
Am I doing something wrong? or for real my laptop's motherboard is better than the audio interface for headphones driving?

It's possible the laptop sounds better because it's cutting out some of the highs...

The 990s are supposed to have murder treble. I own 880s, which supposedly are less sibilant, are yet I find them just a touch too bright. I ended up springing first for HD600s and later a pair of HD650s (only because I needed one for work and one for home, so I figured it was an excuse to try both). I have to admit I prefer the Sennheisers...slightly less bright, and a bit more body.

Another model to look for is the Meze 99, which gets rave reviews.

By the way, I also own DT660s, which are not at all sibilant and have great base. They don't compete with the Sennheisers, but they are really good.

I didn't like the dt990 either. Instead I picked up a fostex T50rp. I really like it I have modded it a fair amount and would recommend at least changing out the ear pads at a minimum. Also If you could increase your budget I would try to swing for some hd600 series cans. They can be found used for a reasonable price if you look hard enough.

Sounds like you really have no need to plug the DT990 into the Scarlette, just leave the DT990 plugged into the laptop.

yeah, in the end, I could just sell that Scarlett and DT990 pro and buy a nice HD600, with some amp and maybe one day an external DAC

Do you recommend me any closed-back headphones to try besides the HD600?

Sure, AKG K175, K275 or K550. Also consider the Sony MDR7510

Well the HD600's aren't closed backs they are open but, AKG does seem to make some closed backs if that is what you're interested in.
