Have picked up a number of great albums over the past year:

Cannibal Ox-Cold Vein (easily my favorite)
Aesop Rock-Labor Days
Company Flow-Funcrusher
EL-P-Fantastic Damage
Jedi Mind Tricks-Violent by Design
Pharoahe Monch-Internal Affairs (finally got around to picking this up)
Raekwon-Only Built for Cuban Links
GZA-Liguid Swords

Inimpressed with:
Cunninglynguists (just not my style)
Mr Lif-I Phantom (heard so many great things; couple of solid tracks...)
Jedi Mind Tricks-Servents in Heaven (what a letdown after VBD)
Canibus-Rip the Jacker (cant handle his voice)
Murs-9th Edition (not my style)

Need to have an album that I can listen to straight through, no track skipping.
Based on the above; any recommendations?

I have been listening to some older stuff - Raekwon - Cuban Links and Ghostface Killah's Ironman - both solid.

I got pretty big into Hip-Hop for a while. I was actually listening to alot of the Def Jux stuff you are listening to now(Can Ox, El-P, etc.), along with Blackalicious and stuff like that. I was getting pretty bored with it, so I started listening to more rock a gain. To be honest, I've never gone back.*

I find rap, no matter how deep you dig (trust me, I did alot of digging), starts to get boring and repetative. Gangsta rap gets boring, backpack rap gets annoying, conscious hip-hop all says the same thing and gets preachy, there's the guys that rap about Dungeons and Dragons, it's okay, for a while.

Just try a different genre, it's probably exactly what you need.

*when I get drunk, I'll still blast some of my favorites.

Have you considered trying a new genre? Some time away from what you're used to helps.

Immortal Technique is the name of the MC.

Is what you listed your whole collection of hip hop? If so, there are TONS of excellent albums you need to check for. I'll give you three (based on the ones you already have) that I'm sure you'll dig:

1) Prince Paul - Prince Among Thieves

2) Non Phixion - The Future is Now

3) Dilated Peoples - The Platform

Classics!

On the audiophile tip, you should also check for P.U.T.S. (People Under The Stairs), those guys put out well recorded, mixed and mastered records.

To your original post/question-no, thats not all my hip-hop, just some of the more interesting stuff I picked up this year.

As for PUTS; I have two or three of their albums-their sound is very generic to me. Well produced and though out, but still generic. I may have to give them another chance though cuz the above is unfairly based on only a handful of listens.

EDIT: Literally just bought Non Phixion. Im only on the third track and im thoroughly impressed. Excellent so far...

I have been listening to this indie hip hop group out of Fresno called Silence Interrupted. I'm have a lot of respect for their work, but since I don't listen to really any hip hop though I have no idea how most people would judge it that are aficionados.

I like it, though...and I will recommend it to anyone interested in the genre:

If you like it, the main vocalist (Sahab) has an electronica/acoustic-y record out on iTunes called Hella Love Songs and Stuff and does a whole different thing when he does music by himself. His page is here:
