Bluesound Node - New 2021 model!!

As i've mentioned in previous post, on USB out, MQA on roon with external DAC doesn't play properly. It auto switches back and forth between PCM and MQA with cutouts every few seconds. Coax out works fine though.
I was getting the same thing, I think, but with just normal hi rez, coming from the usb. Kind of like a low level double distortion in the background is the best I can describe it. Worked flawlessly in coax out. USB is def not ready for prime time I think?

So I’d like to start a discussion...

My Bluesound Node 2021 vs a USB cable directly from my iPad into my integrated amp that is equipped with a reference dac able to do 32-Bit/384kHz PCM and 5.6MHz DSD (double-DSD) compatibility, so fairly competent I’d say most would agree.

So why a wireless Node? An iPad/phone has any music app I need to download and a large screen for album information and cover art. Just add a USB and play In HD.

The Node weights in at $600. A good USB less than $50.

I’ve tried both ways in my system and see the Node as a luxury item, if you understand my meaning. Now if I didn’t have my integrated amp already in place and I was looking to a Bluesound Power Node, that would make much more sense and worth the extra dime.

Thoughts?
If you only stream Apple music, it's much more reasonable to just go through your iPad. Having said that, when I compared the two, Node + Amazon music vs iPad + Apple music, the Node with Amazon sounded better. Getting Bit perfect from ios apps like Amazon music just wouldn't work. The node is a total luxury and I think it's one of the most important parts of my audio chain.

here's a vid I made on the subject a couple pages back.

I gave up on Apple years ago for hi rez music.

Hello,
I got the Node today.
And I have to say I'm a little disappointed.

I connected the Node normally via power cable and Usb to the Singxer Su2.
I downloaded and installed the software for the PC.
And hung in the software with the settings that were not selectable, as well as the help that is only conditionally selectable.
Firewall settings are all allowed, both private and public.
Apart from that, I couldn't do anything with it on the PC.
Would I have had to connect the Node to the PC via USB to integrate it?
If so, I thought it wouldn't be necessary if it was integrated into the network.

I downloaded the app with the iPad.
Lo and behold, something happened.
And I could control everything as you know it from the video on Youtube.
Since the Node was connected directly to the Singxer Su 2 and still played my playlist on the Ipad after I dialled in with Tidal, no sound came out.

The trick is that I don't understand it either.
That the Su2 does not work with a direct connection.
When I plugged the usb cable from the Su into the Singxer Sda 2 dac and selected Usb, it worked.

What somehow doesn't work is that when the node is connected to the Su 2, the Su doesn't pass on the signal to the Sda 2 via I2S.
It could be that I have to set the Su 2 differently with the dip switches it has under the housing.

When it worked, I was still a little disappointed.
In my playlist, for example, it also plays other tracks that are not stored in this playlist but in another one.

The sound side ooouuuffff,
The bass impact is quite weak, you can hear the bass but not with a nice juicy punch.
Rather a bit uncharitable.
The other side was the emphasis on detail reproduction.
You can hear how they sound but the localisation is gone.
With Audirvana, it is always emphasised and reproduced so that you can roughly estimate where it is coming from, but not with this intensity.
In other words, I thought it sounded more generic than analogue or modern.
For stereo applications it's probably a huge advantage and can be nice.
For headphones I don't know 100% how to classify it.

The bottom line is that it's not what I'm looking for.
I want something that I can also use on the PC software technically without any hurdles and problems but still be on the network when it comes to upgrading and also keep the sound side of the devices I have.
As expected, the Node did not connect to my Dac via Bluetooth.
Which is also a bit of a shame.

The manual is also only described in such a way that you know roughly what to do but lacks the details.
Above all, clear statements about what works and what doesn't work are missing.
That is a pity.
Probably some things could be fixed if I wrote to the support for help.
But to be honest, you can do some things yourself without needing support if the instructions were better described.

I think I will send the node back.
Wouldn't be averse to better help though.

Before i forget, all things where updated on the actual Soft and Firmware at this time.

I can try and help but admittedly a bit confused about your gear & use-case.
Could you describe the audio gear that you have?

Hallo,
Ja das wäre super.

der Singxer Su 2 ist ein DDC.
Siehe hier:
https://de.shenzhenaudio.com/produc...digital-interface-femtosecond-clock-interface

Der Singxer Sda 2 ist ein Dac/Verstärker siehe hier:
https://de.shenzhenaudio.com/produc...ing-dsd512-ak4497-decoder-headphone-amplifier
