Anyone else want to post some logs?
 
After this, I'd love to see some 24/96 vs. 16/44 samples.

The beginning was hard to tell apart. but i finally got it
 
i realized...this song actually had vocals after 2 mintues...silly me. so i set both to start at :30 seconds...and teh difference was pretty easy to tell. In A, the vocals don't flow. immidatley at :30 to :31 with the "across the floor" you can tell there is some staticy and the vocals jsut can't reach as easy.  i didn't read any of this before i tried. i did this with Shure SRH 440's and not my HFI 580's...so thus i wouldn't have heard the better bass at the beginning of B.

Nice and very informative, but you still have to post your abx log for it to count.

Did a quick test, tried to focus on the space/separation right from the beginning.
 
My score was hidden during the test and I thought I had it pinned down, but my
Result shows (11.5%) that I failed and if I could hear a difference with the setup used for this test it may as well have been the luck of a draw. So I failed to hear a difference.

That was absolutely exhausting!  Any differences I thought I heard were extremely hard to detect, and made me focus on the tiniest of nuances in the music to the point that I didnt even know what song was actually playing.  In the end, my results were 14/20, which to me seems rather close to 50/50.  Not that I actually expected to hear a difference, and I'm actually surprised that I was even this successful. 
 
However, don't you DARE ask me which track was lossless - I have absolutely no clue!  :D

Use foobar - 20 tests - then post results. Don't worry - unless you're either trained, or have amazing hearing, you'll likely fail (like most of us).

I also tried a few times and failed. Will have to retry with a better setup. But 320 kbps is supposed to be transparent for most samples so the odds are very low to reliably hear a difference even with a "good" headphone setup. :wink:

Now that the files are fixed, this one was legitimately very difficult, I don't think I would have got it if the cymbals weren't hard panned to the left, making it easier to focus on.
 
Cant tell ya which one is lossless, neither sounds better to my ears, only different. But that's just how it is IMO if there aren't any massive pre-echo artifacts.

I prefer heavily compressed tracks, the dynamic range on something well recorded makes my ears hurt.

You mean those in the abx logs? Like this: 00:45:00 : 08/10 5.5%

It's the current time, number of correct choices (8), number of total trials (10) and chance that you're just guessing (5.5%) which should be below 5%.

....ill get the plugin and foobar and read their stuff ro just do it and see those numbers for myself

You just need to check the plugin during the installation of fb2k, or simply choose full installation, then add A.wav and B.wav, select both files, right-click - Utilities - ABX two tracks. When you're done with the test and close the window you're prompted to save the abx log in a text file.
