Hi All Head Fiers Friend

I used Blackberry since 2005 and never used as music player .
Since i bought in April 2013 I have not used my Blackberry Z10 as DAP

Today my friend informed me , hi Rudi please try your Blackberry Z10 as DAP with Neutron Music Player .
The first time I tried my Blackberry Z10 as DAP

Source : Blackberry Z10 as DAP
Music Player : Neutron Player
Iem : Unique Melody 3 DD

The result is as follow :
High : very clean and clear and natural and detail very smooth
Mid : so natural / analog , very clear and clean human voice from the Singer
Bass : very detail , very good bass impact and fast
Separation : very good that I can feel the individual instrument placement
Soundstage : very wide and good depth
Black background : is black and almost noise free

Conculsion :
I didn't expected that Blackberry Z10 can produce so excellent Sound Quality
In my IMO Blackberry Z10 + Neutron Player as Audiophile DAP
You can hear your music collection for long time , has no fatigue to your ears

My IMO :
Blackberry Z10 has better Sound Quality than my Samsung Note 2 with the same Neutron Music player and use the same setting and songs.

Later I will share the setting and some pictures from the setting on my Neutron Player
I will try with my portable Amps as well

Hearing is believing :D

Some impressions and numbers were posted by another reviewer before

http://www.gsmarena.com/blackberry_z10-review-886p7.php

The same Qualcomm WCD9310 as the one from Galaxy S3 / S4

http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2243220/blackberry-uses-samsung-galaxy-s3-chips-in-z10-smartphone

I thought my next phone could be either Xperia i1 or VIVO X3 depending on sound quality. Maybe I could save my money with Z10?

Thank you seeteeyou for your information

Samsung Galaxy S3 has the same audio codex chip like Blackberry Z10

I don't know why the SQ are different ?
The result Blackberry Z10 has better SQ compare to Samsung Galaxy S3
In term of clarity and detail in high , natural and clear mid , better bass impact IMO

My Blackberry Z10 + Neutron Music Player set up as high end DAP ( my IMO )

Source : Blackberry Z10 + Neutron Music Player
Amps : Ortofon MHQ 7
Sony PHA 1
RSA The Intruder
Iem : Unique Melody 3 DD
Cable : Wagnus mini to mini

High : very detail , clean and very clear , clarity very good
Mid : very clear , clean and sweet midrange
Bass : very detail and clean and very good and deep bass impact and very good bass speed
Separation : very good that I can know the instrument placement
Soundstage : very wide and very good depth too
This soundstage can adjust with the Neutron setting
Black background : has black background and low noise floor

Conculsion : Blackberry Z10 as DAP has excellent SQ , my IMO is as high end DAP
With external Amp , we can refine the excellent SQ in better way

The minus point from Z10 before I installed Neutron is the battery life
That's why I carry on my bag portable charger

I am sorry I forget to tell you

After I installed Neutron , it is normal not drain to much .

I have the Q10 (running 10.2) and I get a nice sound from my HD 598, for a mobile it sounds better than some integrated audio in motherboards. I use Neutron player and the Youtube app with HQ (not youtube from the browser as it sounds worse) and it's acceptable for a phone source.

Just picked up a z10 to be the new work phone since I needed something with a strong enough cell radio to push through underground. I agree that RIM did a good job on the audio for calls and music. Plugging a pair of Porta pros just into the micro port and everything is very crisp and clear with pretty clean bass using the stock music player.

That's fine, I could get an extended battery off eBay.

Latest BlackBerry Z30's audio performance was getting nice impressions here

I am very disappointed with Z10 , the price drop so fast , as I bought in April was 750 USD , now Z10 drop more than 50% to 325 USD
That's why I don't buy Z30 , better I am waiting until the price drop to 50% as well. :D
Q 10 price is more stable compare to Z 10

You bought with plan , it is lucky you

We don't have so kind of plan

Company I work for's upgrades they never used.  I turned in the model I was carrying at work and upgraded to a 10 since they never use their solo ones, just a big group buy when funds come down the chain to upgrade all of the executives and managers phones.

you are absolutely right. i don't have the neutron player, but even without it, its still the best dac i have at the moment ( I have ciunas and musiland 02). at first i thought its just a placebo effect, but after comparing it side by side again and again, i realise the z10 is just superior to my ciunas. the best part of this dac is the imaging, seperation and soundstage.

my question to rudi is, im looking for a desktop dac that sounds better than the z10, have u heard such a dac? budget will be about, $700
