Beyerdynamic Xelento!

Received the DT70IE today and made some measurements. Unfortunately I had some problems measuring a clean graph (at 150Hz etc.), but as it is just a comparison it shouldn't matter. I used both IEMs with Spinfits as it is easier to measure with them.
I am ill and my ears are blocked, so I can't really comment on the sound, but what I can hear is what the graphs tells: Less bass and less (upper) mids.
Aah interesting! Looks kinda like what i was anticipating. Really appreciate you posting this. Hope you feel better soon, and am looking forward to your subjective impressions as well.

Does someone want to sell the original balanced Xelento 4,4mm cable? Or knows a cable with very small MMCX plugs like the original ones? I tried some cables, but the plugs were to big for me and the Xelentos didn't fit very well.

@Mungam My DT 70 IE just arrived yesterday. So far, really loving them. They feel pretty much like what I was hoping they would—less of the thick sound that characterized Xelento 2, which both lets the top end come through a bit more clearly and also helps showcase just how low the sub bass on these reaches. Now time to experiment a bit with source… I was hoping to use my iFi Go Blu but I’m not sure I can live with the amount of hiss these pick up, and even with the standard Apple USB C dongle is too powerful (I can only go up one volume notch before these border on too loud). A bit surprised by their sensitivity, but everything else is great so far.

Good to hear that you like them. My ears are not perfect yet, but getting better. And I also really like what I can hear, so far they are a keeper.
I am using a Macbook as source, then iBasso D16 as DAC and Cayin C9ii as AMP. This combination really squeezes the maximum out of the DT70IE. The only thing I am missing is a balanced cable. Still hoping someone is interested in selling one from the Xelento 2.

I bit the bullet and ordered a FIIO BTR15 a couple of days ago, which arrived yesterday. It sounds sublime with the DT 70 IE, especially on low gain—lots of volume headroom and just excellent synergy overall. Continuing to be impressed with how balanced yet engaging the IE 70 sounds. I think it’s my favorite of all the Beyerdynamic tunings I’ve heard, more so than either Xelento to be honest.

Also, random follow up regarding pairing with a Go Blu: I tried the DT 70 IE with a newer Go Blu than the one I had originally been using, and could barely detect any background hiss. I think the Go Blu unit I have is either defective, or they did a silent revision at some point because the two I compared sound very different in that respect.
