This is exciting. Where did you hear this, if I may ask? Any more info?

If the 3rd generation of the T1 is scheduled for release this year, it stands to reason that the 3rd generation of the T5p might be arriving, too.

Now, that's something worth waiting for!

I truly love my T1.2. Such a great headphone that can be had 2nd hand for very reasonable prices. Excited to see what the T1.3 has to offer!

No additional info for now. No idea how it looks or if they use a new or improved driver.

We will find out soon enough.

No idea about a T5p 3rd gen but we all know it will happen after this one.

Agreed. They can also be bought for a very reasonable price on the outlet page of the Beyerdynamic site, at least in Austria and Germany.

Hopefully they'll solve the cup issue on the T5p...:fingers_crossed:

Makes a lot of sense. That way, consumers spend more of their budget on the cans and less on the amp! Also, they become relevant to high-end DAP users (practically nobody other than the absolute hardcore enthusiasts stack portable sources and amps anymore).

This reaffirms the trend of TOTL headphones going high sensivity or being easier to drive. Hifiman somewhere mentioned this being one of their fundamentals going forward. Proof is the HE-1000SE
Wonder if we will see a further decline of high empedance amps like OTLs? Or will there be an eventual Renaissance on high empedance headphones in the distant future, like vinyl today?

I think the trend will go towards headphones like the DEVA, Ananda BT, Penrose. Basically connect wirelessly to your smartphone, DAP, console, PC. Transportability and almost universal connectivity. Less wires, less clutter, easy to setup, more freedom of movement.

Also we will see more personalization through measurements of the ears. Yes, for the mass market.
What Creative for instance does with the Super X-Fi Sony will do too for their Tempest 3D Audio Engine.

I also believe that more brands will turn towards the gaming market.

Enthusiast market will always be there but the grand mass of money will be elsewhere. *

*what I mean is those who want to stay with desktop solutions. Many High End users already switch to DAPs, e.g. for headphones like the Empyrean, HEK SE etc

Being a big fan of Beyer and owning the Beyer T1.2 I’m definitely excited about this headphone. Curious how it’s tuning is going to be compared to the current T1.
