Hi.
I spotted beyer's attempt to reach the amp market today on the IFA in Berlin.
The result is called "A1" and is a solid state, class A headphone amp.
Power uptake is 5W, it comes with 2 inputs (1 is directed back to the output, too), automatic gain controll for high and low impedance headphones and a 120Ohm output jacket (in the final version it will be more likely 100 ohm).

I can not tell you, how it it sounds because of the backgroundnoise of the convention, the plugged in DT990 (uuuuaaaaah) and the missing comparison with other amps that I need in order to hear differences.

There were the first two prototypes, one fully operational and one to look inside.

Please don't nail me on this data, I had a pretty long talk with the beyer guy and have to remember the data now from my memory.
I will give you more information on monday, when I am at the IFA again.

Cool. Now what will decide of its actual 'importance' will be the selling price. I hope that Beyer can keep it low...

looks pretty decent... that looks like an ALPS blue velvet pot?

who knows it might be pretty nice... but not for $1000!

What I seem to get from the partial view of the internals, is that it (should) be the classical op-amp + discrete buffer thing. Dual power supply regulated with the 78xx & 79xx type of regulators. Pretty traditional. Well done, but for that price... .

A solid state at a $1000 plus USD, you would like to call a "Premium High End" amp. They miss that mark without even hearing it. The first thing they need to do is get rid of the obnoxious cheezy looking "yellow plastic collar" and replace it with Teak wood or something as nice.
