There is a sale today in Holland on the Shure SRH1440. Currently I am using Beyerdynamic DT880Pro's as my daily headphones for music, movies and gaming.
I really like my DT880Pro but it's going to have its 3rd birthday soon, so as you can imagine because of heavy daily use (probably around 50 hours a week) it has some scratches, the earcups aren't that nice anymore etc.

Therefore I am interested in the sale that Shure currently has.

How do these 2 headphones compare to eachother? Will the Shure be an upgrade or downgrade? Is the sound similar?

The DT880 is an open headphone and the SRH1440 is closed.

What do you use to drive your headphones?

I was interested in the same comparison. Too bad nobody did that here. Also, PurpleAngel's post is incorrect, the SRH1440 is an open design.

I heard the 1440's. Terrible. Absolutely terrible.

What was that terrible about the Shures?
Could you share some details?

I also considered to buy a used one, as I could get it for about 120€ shipped.

I am curious how they sound, compared to my DT 880 and K701.
