Yes, that is the headband that the PRO models use. I believe you would just wrap this around your existing headband, but I could be wrong.

Yes, you do just wrap it around the headband. It is very comfy and easy to replace =]

Yes. However, I prefer Genuine Leather..........both Headphile, and JMoney make very good aftermarket replacements. Sure, they cost more - but you'll end up being happy about that choice.

Pooh, quite expensive.

Instead of getting just the headband, you could alternatively organize yourself a Superlux HD660 (which is a copy of the old DT770 which less audiophile systems). I got a new one for just 35€ (incl. shipping) at Ebay and now have a complete Beyer "spare parts store" incl. the headband pad.

There is a 1/4" difference (2005 being shorter) in headband cover length - that's all. If someone wanted to use a 2005 headband cover on an earlier version, then a 2005 endpiece kit can be used. Obviously, Headphile, and JMoney would make them to the correct sizing.

I've seen those headphones on ebay: the end pieces are different from the ones on the DT880 (actually they're like the DT770, as you said). Do you think the whole headband (not just the pad, but also the metal 'thing') will fit into the DT880's yokes?

I did it, everything suits perfectly. The aluminium fork needs to be widened approx. 1mm or so, but that is easely to be made.
