the DT880 are very good phones! they are fairly neutral, so some people don't like the overall tone, and some complain that they lack a little bit of bass.

Well, mine just arrived today, and my initial impressions (going on 1/2 hr listening time, mind, so please bear this in mind) is that it has a much more expansive sound than my other 'phones (MS-1s). They also seem better at picking out and resolving different instruments. Oh, and they're very comfy

Yes they are good, among the best of the best dynamic headphones.

I think the DT880 is one of the rare headphones where you don't have people complaining about how it sucks in some regard or other (veil, pain, no bass, painful treble, overpriced, whatever).
