80 will be easier to drive and should work ok out of your computer and an average portable amp is all you need for them.

the 250 ohms also sound more balanced while the 80 ohm pros are bass monsters.

From what I understand, having only the 250-ohm version, it's supposed to be a little brighter than the 80-ohm.  It is still quite a bass monster in its own right though and easily competes with my Pro 900 and XB-500.

Mine runs well off an E11, so the 80-ohm should be just fine.

Depends on what kind of music you listen to . If your confined to the e6 as your amp , I would say go with the 80 ohms just because I don't think the e6 has enough punch to power the 250's . Either way you won't be disappointed.

I noticed you wrote in all caps , you mad bro ? :p

lets just say this, invest in a better amp if you want the full sound stage of the 250s. I really think you will not be disappointed with the 80s.

I've had the 80-ohm version for a few years now, and they are a tad power-hungry, even for being low-impedance. I almost always listen through a DAC/amp combo on my computer, either an E-MU 0404 USB on an XP desktop or a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 on a Win7 laptop. Either interface has enough power to satisfy me.

I demo'd the Shure SRH840's against the Beyer DT770 80 pro's 2 days ago. I bought the DT770's because the have more bass, BUT the SRH840's have a nicer voice to them and were clearer in the mids and highs with a better (IMO) soundstage. The shure's were so good in fact I'm probably going to make them the third headphone of my setup fairly soon (my other being the AKG K172 HD). If you listen to music that REALLY needs ONLY BASS go with the DT770's. But if you like bass and want good all around sound go with the Shure's. The Beyer's shake your head but slightly muddy everything else, whereas the SRH840's make sweet all around audio love, but with out the eyeball shaking.

i completely agree with you on the muddness of the dt 770 80 ohms. Not to sound like a beyerdynamic fan boy or anything but the dt 990 600 ohms are amazing in the way of clarity and a nicer voice as you were saying with the Shure SRH840. Neither will shake your head as hard as the 770's but thats why you buy those if you want bass. the 990's  are almost double the price and cannot be powered without an amp, so they do have there trades offs, but if you can afford them , i would say to buy em.
